Christina Hendricks Will Star in Cameron Crowe’s Showtime Series ‘Roadies’
Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks is set to star in the pilot episode of the upcoming Showtime comedy series Roadies. As the title suggests, this hour-long program, written and directed by Cameron Crowe, centers on the day-to-day operations of a successful rock tour from the unique perspective of the crewmembers behind the show. Roadies is slated to premiere sometime in 2015.
Hendricks has been cast in the role of Shelli, the band’s production manager. Her character is described as “tough but privately emotional, married to her job and scary good at it.” Her work partner Bill will be played by Luke Wilson. The cast also includes Imogen Poots (Need for Speed), Rafe Spall (The World’s End), and Peter Cambor (NCIS: Los Angeles).
Crowe explained how valuable the crews are who work on these tours. He said, “We’re fans of crews, those workers up on the rigging towers, or walking feverishly with eight phones on their belt. Those quietly devoted people live huge lives, they’re often the real keepers of the flame.”
Iconic writer and producer J.J. Abrams serves as one of the show’s executive producers.
During the past few years, Hendricks has been working as much in film as in TV, including the feature crime drama Drive. Her next big screen project is the mystery thriller Dark Places, with Charlize Theron.
