Robert De Niro Takes On a Surprising Role for Dramedy 'The Intern'

Robert De Niro takes a job as an intern at an online fashion site in the forthcoming dramedy, 'The Intern.'

Robert De Niro plays a surprising role in the upcoming feature film The Intern, co-starring Anne Hathaway. The iconic actor has played a wide range of characters over the years, but this role is a clear example of thinking outside the box. De Niro portrays Ben Whittaker, a retired widower who goes to work as an intern at an online fashion site.

The job is a good opportunity for Ben to rejoin the workforce; and his boss, Jules Ostin (Hathaway), and co-workers discover that although the much older man is clearly a fish out of water, they need him as much as he needs them. When Jules is confronted with a professional crisis, the kind and seasoned Ben proves to be an indispensable alley.

The film boasts a strong supporting cast that includes Rene Russo (Thor franchise), Anders Holm (The Mindy Project), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect franchise), Celia Weston (American Horror Story), Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars) and veteran actress Linda Lavin.
