Three Pump Up Jams From Next Year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees
Next year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction show is certain to be one of the best yet. Legendary rap trio Beastie Boys will be joined by iconic rock bands Red Hot Chili Peppers and the original Guns N’ Roses at the April 14, 2012 event, which will take place on the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland. While each group has a catalog of amazing songs, three stick out as must-haves for your pump-up playlist. Here are STACK’s three favorite, heart-pounding jams featuring the bands about to be enshrined in the Rock Hall.
Beastie Boys
“Sabotage”
Ill Communication
The music video is hilarious. But listen to this hit rock-rap single in the locker room, and you’ll be amped up for the start of the game. Lord knows we wouldn’t want to go up against a linebacker who just played this—simply imagining the ensuing hit is painful enough.
Guns N’ Roses
“Welcome to the Jungle”
Appetite for Destruction
We sure hope this doesn’t come as a surprise. This rock classic was the first co-written by lead vocalist Axl Rose and iconic lead guitarist Slash back in 1987. Give it a listen during your pre-game warm-up. You’ll feel the adrenaline pumping.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
“Give It Away”
Blood Sugar Sex Magik
The lyrics cover deep concepts, promoting selflessness and an altruistic lifestyle. But the song gets your heart pounding moments before game time. This funk rock jam will push you out onto the field with a whole new level of energy coursing through your veins.
If you can’t attend the induction ceremony in Cleveland in April, HBO will air a taped version sometime in early May. Meantime, after you listen to your new Rock Hall-infused playlist, we feel truly sorry for your next opponents.
