CBS Plans 'Rush Hour' TV Series

A series adapted from the popular 'Rush Hour' film franchise is coming to CBS.

The popular Rush Hour action/comedy film franchise is coming to the small screen in an hourlong TV series pilot for CBS. The project will be written and executive produced by Cougar Town writers Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick. The premise stays close to the movies, centering on a square Hong Kong police officer and a cocky LAPD cop who are forced to work together.

After launching in 1998, the film franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker grossed over $845 million worldwide. Rumors have circulated for awhile about a Rush Hour 4. Chan indicated last year that the studio wanted to do another sequel. However, he was adamant about having good material to work with, saying, "Lately they want to make Rush Hour 4. I said 'No, show me the script first. I don't need another Rush Hour 4. You need Rush Hour 4. Show me the script.' I don't want to do a rubbish script just because they want to make the movie."

The Rush Hour TV series is expected to premiere on CBS this fall.
