Samuel L. Jackson co-stars with Asa Butterfield (Enders Game) and Eva Green (300: Rise of an Empire) in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of Ransom Riggs’s  bestselling novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

The haunting storyline focuses on 16-year-old Jacob (Butterfield), who follows clues left by his grandfather leading to the crumbling remains of a place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, located on a mysterious island. As he investigates this strange venue, exploring abandoned bedrooms and hallways, Jacob comes to the realization that the previous occupants—who may still be alive—were beyond peculiar; they possessed amazing powers.

According to the distributor, 20th Century Fox: “The mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers…and their powerful enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special ‘peculiarity’ can save his new friends.”

Directing the dark fantasy adventure is Tim Burton, whose amazing body of work includes such imaginative pictures as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Alice in Wonderland.

Samuel L. Jackson plays Jacob’s former school bus driver, Mr. Barron, who seems to have a few secrets of his own. Eva Green takes on the title role as Miss Peregrine. The cast also features Ella Purnell (Maleficent), Chris O’Dowd (Thor: The Dark World), Allison Janney (Mom), Judi Dench (Skyfall), Kim Dickens of TV’s Fear the Walking Dead and Terence Stamp, who was last seen in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes.

The screenplay was written by Jane Goldman, best known for the X-Men franchise and more recently Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Riggs’s popular fantasy novel, released in 2011, was the first installment in a planned trilogy. The second book Hollow City was published in 2014.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will debut in theaters on March 4, 2016.
