Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to Have Huge Roles in ‘Avengers 2’
Quicksilver and his sister Scarlet Witch will play large roles in the upcoming Avengers sequel, according to director Joss Whedon.
“[They’re] a huge part of the movie, I’m really excited about it,” said Whedon to CraveOnline.
20th Century Fox and Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men flick, Days of Future Past, will also feature Quicksilver. And although Whedon won’t talk about the Days of Future Past version of Pietro Maximoff, he is looking forward to the competition. “I’m really excited about it. I don’t know what they’re doing and I’m determinably not knowing,” he said. “They’ll do their thing. I have to do mine.”
Considering the number of mutants in Singer’s film, it seems unlikely that Quicksilver (portrayed by American Horror Story‘s Evan Peters) will make anything more than a cameo appearance in the film. We also haven’t heard anything about his sister accompanying him. But that hasn’t stopped Singer from hyping Quicksilver’s role. Singer recently tweeted a picture of the Maximoff house.
Rumors suggest that actors Aaron Johnson (Kick Ass) and Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) are on the shortlist to portray Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2. But despite all the excitement for the sequel, we still don’t know much about the plot. So it’s unclear how the brother/sister duo will get involved with the team. But if Whedon is excited, that’s enough for us.
Fox will get its version of the sibling team to theaters first. X-Men: Days of Future Past will premiere on May 2, 2014. Marvel’s Avengers 2 is slated to start filming in the UK this February and land in theaters May 3, 2015.
