NBA Prospect Brandon Ingram Models His Game After This NBA Legend
Former Duke forward Brandon Ingram has the potential to be the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Along with Ben Simmons, Ingram is one of this year’s top prospects. His length and scoring ability are among his greatest assets.
The 6-foot-9 Ingram has drawn comparisons to NBA superstar Kevin Durant, and he is sure to add a scoring threat to one of the NBA’s low-tier teams, like the Philadelphia 76ers or Los Angeles Lakers.

Though Ingram doesn’t shy away from the Durant comparison, he models himself more on NBA legend George “The Iceman” Gervin.
“I try to compare myself to Kevin Durant a lot,” Ingram said on ESPN Radio on Wednesday. “Of course he’s far beyond my years [in age and experience]. Even a guy named George Gervin, I look at his highlights a lot.”
Ingram said his dad and his high school basketball coach each told him about Gervin. And Ingram saw a lot of himself in the former San Antonio Spurs guard.
Ingram modeling his playing style after Gervin is not a stretch. With their wiry frames, the two are similar in body type. Gervin played at 6-foot-7 and 181 pounds. Ingram is 6-foot-9, 195 pounds.

In addition, both players are pure scorers. Gervin won four scoring titles during his 13-year NBA career, averaging 26.2 points per game. Last season at Duke, Ingram scored 17.3 points per game on 44.2 percent shooting and 41 percent shooting from 3.
The mark of a true scorer is the ability to score in a multitude of ways, whether driving to the basket, shooting a 3 or pulling up for a midrange jumper. Good scorers vary their moves, and they’re unpredictable during every possession. Both Ingram and Gervin fit this description.
