Ryan Reynolds leads the way in the sci-fi thriller Selfless, about a wealthy old man dying of cancer, who tries to achieve immortality by transferring his consciousness to the body of a healthy young man.
An experimental underground procedure allows the billionaire to make the switch, but then he is faced with a new set of problems, as he experiences flashbacks to a terrible crime. He gradually uncovers the mystery surrounding the origin of the body and its connection to a secret organization that will go to any lengths to protect itself.
Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley joins Reynolds in the film, which also features Matthew Goode (The Good Wife), Teri Wyble (When the Game Stands Tall), Michelle Dockery (Non-Stop), Sam Page (House of Cards), and veteran actor Victor Gerber, currently appearing in the Showtime series Web Therapy.
The movie is directed by Tarsem Singh, whose recent work includes Mirror, Mirror, the 2012 retelling of Snow White,
The screenplay was written by brothers Àlex and David Pastor, who have collaborated on several projects, including the Scott Speedman horror thriller Out of the Dark.
Selfless will open in theaters nationwide on July 31.
