Share Your Shoe Moments With Foot Locker's Sneakerpedia
Foot Locker’s latest venture, Sneakerpedia.com, a user-powered social platform for sneaker enthusiasts, collectors, influencers and athletes, launched earlier this week. Held at the Hudson Hotel in New York City, the launch was hosted by DJ Clark Kent, DJ Greg Street and Mayor from Addicted to Fresh [ATF sneaker crew] and headlined by rapper Bun B. The site’s beta version, introduced in December 2010, showcased a complex variety of sneakers—from the most-owned shoes to the rarest to never-before-seen items.
“This community of sneaker enthusiasts can now share their knowledge, interest and expertise of the products that unite us,” said Stacy Cunningham, corporate vice president of marketing for Foot Locker, Inc.
You can just peruse or, if you think your sneaker collection could be a contender, you can share it and compare it with some of the largest independent collections out there. You can browse by brand, type of shoe, release date, materials and design patterns.
Users are encouraged to provide detailed information and any personal stories relating to the shoes. Did you win the state championship in your adiZero Rose? Still have the shoes in which you outran your rival in the 800 meters? What about your first pair of sneakers ever?
Although the site provides detailed information on specific models and colorways, it doesn’t usually include where they can be found, or even if they are still on the market. The value lies in contributing your “owned it” or “loved it” votes, and offering your unique accounts of the shoes that have bolstered your confidence and roused your game with those who share your enthusiasm.
