Guard Core Value: Loyalty
What It Means: Faithfulness to a person, cause or duty. A feeling of allegiance.
See It In: Shauna Rohbock, assistant coach for the U.S. women’s bobsled team and sergeant in the Utah National Guard. After becoming one of the top 10 scorers in NCAA women’s soccer history at Brigham Young, Rohbock was introduced to bobsledding by a college coach. She eventually earned a spot on the 2006 Winter Olympic team, where she and her teammate won a silver medal. Today Rohbock teaches a new generation of Olympic hopefuls about teamwork, discipline and hard work.
Rohbock Says: “In bobsledding, your teammates hold your life in their hands. That’s why strong teamwork is so important in the sport—and you can’t have that without loyalty to each other.”
