This year’s NBA All-Star Weekend greets the City of Angels with highly-anticipated VIPs (Very Important Performances). We can’t predict who will walk away with the trophies, but these All-Star and Signature kicks are shoo-ins for rocking the Hollywood Hardwood.
1. JORDAN FLIGHT SCHOOL
Navigating through opponents on the court just got easier with the Flight School. The kick cushions the foot with an Achilles pad and Nubuck leather. Perforations are strategically placed along the rand for breathability. On the outsole, the Jordan aesthetic is brought forth with a translucent heel. Expect quality traction with a solid rubber, multi-dimensional herringbone pattern.
2. ADIDAS ADIPURE 2011 ALL-STAR EDITION
Most of adidas’ All-Star ballers will wear the new adiPure during NBA All-Star weekend. Available in three colorways, depending on the team (East, West or Rookie), the shoe features Sprintskin, a revolutionary single-layer synthetic, for enhanced feel, lighter weight and breathability. A Pure Motion Cilia Traction System on the outsole provides secure grip for cutting and running on the court.
3. ADIDAS SUPERBEAST
Dwight Howard’s new signature kick, specifically designed for the NBA All-Star’s game, fulfills the special needs of big men in the middle. Covered in Sprintskin to lighten the load, the shoe also features a double-stacked, Z-shaped Torsion System at the midsole and along the arch to let the foot rotate easily or twist inward, while slowing the rate at which the ankle can roll outward.
4. NIKE LEBRON 8
Maximum performance features plus ultimate design aesthetics equals the latest and greatest LB signature kick. Flywire technology and dual-density molded internal collar foam provide lightweight lockdown. The Max Air 360 unit delivers serious impact protection and cushions and guides during footstrike. A seamless mesh inner sleeve allows the foot to breathe comfortably, and deep forefoot flex grooves facilitate full range of motion.
The LB8 conveys plenty of swagger, drawing design inspiration from the shell of a dress shoe, with the resulting upper constructed of natural leather. The King’s aggressive, stealthy style of play is symbolized by a lion design on the front side of the tongue.
5. JORDAN CP3.IV (check out a video interview with Chris Paul about the CP3.IV basketball shoe).
New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul played host as Jordan Brand launched a sneak peak of the CP3.IV. Paul and lead designer Jason Mayden share their inspiration and thoughts on the slick sneaker
“Quick Can’t Be Caught” is Jordan Brand’s slogan for the latest entry in All-Star Chris Paul’s signature sneaker line. The CP3.IV is designed to push any baller’s speed to the limit. “No-sew construction” along the upper, combined with lightweight mesh and leather, produces a lighter, faster, more breathable shoe—while maintaining strong support to lock in the foot.
6. CONVERSE EB3
The third signature kick from two-time All-Star Elton Brand fuses technology and tradition in a clean, classic design. Constructed with Balls Technology to cushion the foot, the shoe includes an adjustable midfoot strap for additional lockdown—a feature prized by the Philadelphia 76ers forward on the court. The outsole sports a multi directional circle bone pattern for strong traction on the hardwood.
7. JORDAN MELO M7
Melo’s seventh signature kick addresses performance with style, replicating the forward’s on-court dominance and standout skills. The forefoot and heel are constructed with a Zoom Air unit for more responsiveness, and the internal heel pad provides cushioning and lockdown. The kick features a swirl graphic on each heel illustrating Melo’s effortless on- and off-court polish.
8. ADIDAS ADIZERO ROSE 1.5
The Rose 1.5, the second edition of Derrick Rose’s adiZero line, is designed to improve the All-Star’s oncourt performance, while signifying his road to the pros. The three-paneled Sprintskin zones represent Derrick’s brothers, each of whom helped him reach the NBA. They also create a lightweight, yet strong and supportive shoe, providing reinforcement during lateral cuts.
9. NIKE ZOOM KDIII
Built for versatile players, the KDIII reflects design cues from one of the NBA’s most talented forwards. “Note”able on the heel and midfoot are piano keys symbolizing KD’s love of music. On the outsole, a “BF62” emblem represents the legendary game in which KD scored 62 points at Barry Farms in D.C. The durable upper is constructed with full-grain leather and synthetic materials, creating a supportive and lightweight fit. A molded TPU midfoot shank helps the foot withstand quick, lateral movements. Nike Zoom unit in the forefoot provides lightweight, low-profile, responsive cushioning.
