‘Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3’ Announced for 2016
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 will arrive in the top half of 2016, announced CI Games earlier this week. The sequel, to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, will put gamers into the middle of a conflict among three warring factions in modern day Eastern Europe. It will reportedly feature non-linear gamplay, open maps, and the option for players to either get up close and into the action or do their dirty work from a safe distance.
“The Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise is one of the most popular in the CI Games portfolio, with over 5.5 million copies sold, so we’re investing a significant amount of effort into the third installment,” said CI Games exec Marek Tyminski in a statement. “We’re fully committed to creating a AAA franchise that gamers can rely on for the ultimate first-person sniper experience.”
The first game, which was released in 2010, and its 2013 sequel, were met with mixed reviews from critics, many pointing out the game’s mechanics and overall graphics as low points. But following the success of Lords of the Fallen, the developer seems confident about the franchise. “I think we proved with Lords of the Fallen that our production formula works well. It’s not about how many people you have internally. It’s about the quality of that talent,” said Tyminski during a recent interview with Polygon.
Steve Hart, the senior producer behind Sniper Elite V2, has joined the development team for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, and the developer has also enlisted help from former Marine Paul B. Robinson.
