Snoop Dogg Starring in ESPN Miniseries Based on Son’s Football Career
Snoop Dogg and his son, Cordell Broadus, will star in a five-part reality series focusing on the youngster’s move to college football and the recruiting process. Cordell, who plays wide receiver at Nevada’s Bishop Gorman High School, is a top recruit this year, receiving attention from USC, Notre Dame and LSU.
The miniseries will expose fans to a different side of Snoop. Instead of the smooth-talking, gangster hip-hop impresario, he assumes a role in which he’s far more comfortable—father and football expert.
“[Fans will] see a man navigating the line between father and friend. They’ll see someone whose interest in his son’s life reflects what he himself never had,” said executive producer Rory Karpf. “Above all, they’ll see a father extraordinarily proud of his son.”
“I’ve been known for my work in many industries, but what I am most proud of is my beautiful family,” Snoop said. “My son is an extremely talented athlete, and my wife and I will be by his side wherever he chooses to play. I’m looking forward to the world watching me go through this journey with my family.”
In the trailer for the upcoming series, both the father’s and the son’s intense love for football are apparent. But it’s more than just something they can bond over. It’s clear that Snoop’s son views the sport as a chance to create a legacy of his own. “Everybody’s trying to see if Snoop Dogg’s son could really play football or is he all hype?” says Cordell in the short clip. Check it out below.
Snoop & Son: A Dad’s Dream will kick off Jan. 14 on ESPN.
