Last week, Frictional Games announced Soma, a new sci-fi horror game; Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag‘s Season Pass was detailed; and United Front Games announced a Sleeping Dogs sequel.
Soma Coming to PS4 & PC in 2015
Sony and Frictional Games announced the release of Soma, a first person sci-fi horror game. The game, which Frictional started working on three years ago, explores the psyche of a person trapped in a terrifying world full of monsters. It will be released in 2015 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
“You will encounter a number of strange characters, each an embodiment of an aspect of our themes. In order to survive the journey, you need to understand how they work and in the process take on extremely unsettling subjects,” wrote Soma creative director Thomas Grip on the official PlayStation blog. “Our goal is for Soma to not just be another carnival ride of cheap scares. It is meant to chill you to your core, and confront you with questions about your very existence.”
Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag Trailer Released, Season Pass Detailed
Ubisoft released a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed 4’s Black Island Pack. The GameStop pre-order exclusive includes a single-player mission on Black Island, access to the Black Ship and a few costume customizations for protagonist Edward.
The developer also revealed contents of the game’s season pass. For $19.99, gamers will get their hands on the Kraken Ship Pack, a season pass exclusive, giving them ways to customize the Jackdaw; additional single player missions, weapons and skins; and the ability to unlock new characters for multiplayer mode. The pass also includes “Freedom Cry,” a nine-mission story about Edward’s first mate, Adewale, a trained assassin shipwrecked without a crew or weapons.
Assassin’s Creed 4 will be released Oct. 29 for current-gen consoles, including the Wii U; Nov. 15 for the PlayStation 4; Nov. 19 for PC; and Nov. 22 for the Xbox One.
Sleeping Dogs Sequel in the Works
United Front Games confirmed it is working on Triad Wars, a game set in the Sleeping Dogs universe. Sleeping Dogs, which has sold two million copies, follows undercover officer Wei Shen as he makes his way through Hong Kong. It’s unclear where Triad Wars will take place and who will be the main character.
“It’s something we’ve wanted to do for ages, and we’re very happy to be working with Square Enix again… but that’s all we can give you for the time being. We’ll have more information about what the game’s going to be in 2014,” according to a post on the company’s official website.
