STACK Approved: Mizuno Wave Rider 15
For 15 years, the Mizuno Wave Rider has been a popular choice among runners looking for a comfortable yet durable running shoe. To commemorate the shoe’s anniversary, Mizuno recently released the Wave Rider 15—its best version yet.
The Wave Rider 15 reflects many of the same great features found in previous editions. It also includes advanced technology based on research regarding how the foot interacts with the ground when we run.
The shoe’s Wave Technology is what helped make the Wave Rider so popular. It is designed to act like a car’s suspension, reducing the amount of force exerted on the foot, making long distance runs more comfortable and helping to preserve the joints. Also, the Wave Rider 15 includes SmoothRide Technology, which allows the shoe to mimic the natural movement of the foot when running. This maximizes efficiency so you can run faster without losing energy.
Running in the Wave Rider 15 is an enjoyable experience. The reduced force on the joints is noticeable, yet the shoe isn’t so soft that it feels like you are losing energy with each stride. We found it to be quite comfortable. It had a snug fit with plenty of padding, yet the shoe was still breathable.
The Wave Rider 15 provides excellent traction, and its overall durability is well above average. Its solid construction offers superior stability, which is critical if you run on uneven terrain. This might be a reason why the shoe felt a bit stiff, but it did not take away from a great running experience.
The Mizuno Wave Rider 15 is available in three color options and a commemorative Limited Edition Ruby color for $115 on Mizuno.com.
