STACK Approved: Rockport truWALK Zero T-Toe Sport
This past winter, we became major fans of Rockport’s Zenacity Molded shoe. So naturally we wanted to test the company’s new truWALK Zero T-Toe Sport sneaker, which incorporates adidas adiPrene technology.
One of the lightest shoes Rockport has ever made, the truWALK Zero is the result of years of research and testing. Featuring an ultra-lightweight design and a super flexible sole, the shoe is so light we felt like we were wearing slippers.
Like the Zenacity Molded shoe, the truWALK Zero has a short break-in period. Right off the bat, it gives you a comfortable full range of motion, from shock absorption at the heel strike to forefoot flexibility during push off. The upper consists of a synthetic mesh that wicks away moisture to keep your feet dry and a padded collar and tongue to prevent blisters and lace bruising. The shoe also features an EVA outsole, which helps reduce foot fatigue for all day comfort. However, don’t expect to use this shoe for performance training. It has very little ankle support for any type of explosive lateral movement.
As for style, the sneaker is ultra-sleek—perfect for folks who like to mix active wear with casual dress attire and versatile enough to wear to work or out on the town. The only downside is that the shoe is narrow, making it a poor choice for someone with wide feet.
Kudos to Rockport for one of the most original shoe launches to date. Performance artist Johan Lorbeer created a live installation at the corner of West 43rd Street and 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan (see video below).
The truWALK Zero retails for $120 and can be purchased at the company’s website.
