STACK Battle of the Brands Championship Preview
Championship: adidas vs. Nike
Regular Season Series: 5-0, Nike over adidas
Last Meeting: Nike 141, adidas 79 (Week 13)
Game Notes: For the second straight week, plenty of questions surround the Team adidas starting lineup. Will Robert Griffin III return to action after his first missed start as a pro? What is the availability of WR Davone Bess, who could definitely take advantage of a weak Buffalo Bills pass defense? Is Kendall Wright’s season over after the rookie wideout suffered cracked ribs last week?
We’ll learn more when the weekly injury report surfaces, but we won’t know for sure until just before kickoff on Sunday. However, if we were to guess, our best bets would be Griffin probable, Bess questionable and Wright doubtful. You will notice that the adidas starting lineup reflects our guesswork.
Team Nike’s starting lineup remains the same. Tough matchups for RBs Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch may be Team Nike’s biggest challenge in the championship.
Finally, this championship battle features two positional head-to-head matchups that will be played out on the field: TE Jason Witten and the Dallas Cowboys play host to Jimmy Graham and the New Orleans Saints; and Frank Gore and the San Francisco 49ers travels to Seattle for a divisional game against Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks. The latter matchup, between two of the game’s top backs, could decide which team is crowned champion in the first-ever Battle of the Brands.
Now meet the projected starting lineups:
Team adidas
- QB: Robert Griffin III (@ PHI)
- WR: Davone Bess (vs. BUF)
- WR: Leonard Hankerson (@ PHI)
- RB: Frank Gore (@ SEA)
- RB: C.J. Spiller (vs. MIA)
- TE: Jimmy Graham (@ DAL)
- Flex: DeMarco Murray (vs. NO)
Team Nike
- QB: Matt Ryan (@ DET)
- WR: Calvin Johnson (vs. ATL)
- WR: Victor Cruz (@ BAL)
- RB: Ray Rice (vs. NYG)
- RB: Adrian Peterson (@ HOU)
