STACK Battle of the Brands Week 9 Preview
What do the NFL and the STACK Battle of the Brands fantasy football league have in common? No blockbuster trades will be completed in either league. Let’s check out this week’s game previews and starting lineups.
Game 1: Team adidas (3-5) vs. Team Under Armour (4-4)
Team adidas
Two of Team adidas’s three wins this season have come against Team Under Armour. Can adidas get the three-peat? With Frank Gore on bye and DeMarco Murray still sidelined with an injury, the brand will need big-time production from the running back position. Keep an eye on WR Titus Young, who erupted for 31 fantasy points last week.
- QB: Robert Griffin III (vs. CAR)
- WR: Kendall Wright (vs. CHI)
- WR: Titus Young (@ JAX)
- RB: Reggie Bush (@ IND)
- RB: C.J. Spiller (@ HOU)
- TE: Jimmy Graham (vs. PHI)
- Flex: Davone Bess (@ IND)
Team Under Armour
Cam Newton gets the start with Tom Brady on bye week, and it couldn’t come at a better time. Newton squares off against Robert Griffin III both in real life and the fantasy land that is the Battle of the Brands. It’s a favorable matchup for Newton and WR Steve Smith, as the Redskins pass defense has given up the most passing yards and touchdowns in the NFL. One area of concern: with TE Vernon Davis on bye, the start goes to Niles Paul, who’s had zero fantasy impact in the first half of the season.

- WR: Steve Smith (@ WAS)
- WR: Julio Jones (vs. DAL)
- RB: Arian Foster (vs. BUF)
- RB: Willis McGahee (@ CIN)
- TE: Niles Paul (vs. CAR)
- Flex: Miles Austin (@ ATL)
Game 2: Team Nike (4-4) vs. Team Reebok (5-3)
Team Nike
Team Nike’s roster features four of the top five running backs in Week 9, based on projections of the sports analytics firm numberFire. But as we’ve learned in the past, Nike’s superstar roster doesn’t always live up to its lofty projections. Nevertheless, we’re heeding to the experts and sitting Adrian Peterson, who’s the odd man out due to a tough matchup against the Seahawks D.
- QB: Matt Ryan (vs. DAL)
- WR: Calvin Johnson (@ JAX)
- WR: Victor Cruz (vs. PIT)
- RB: LeSean McCoy (@ NO)
- RB: Ray Rice (@ CLE)
- TE: Jason Witten (@ ATL)
- Flex: Marshawn Lynch (vs. MIN)
Team Reebok
Team Nike has the top-ranked backs, but Team Reebok is rolling with the No. 1- and 2-ranked wide receivers in Brandon Marshall and Roddy White, per numberFire’s projections. The running back situation is suspect for Team Reebok, which is just one week removed from Jamaal Charles’s disappearing act (five carries for four yards); and Ahmad Bradshaw’s availability is in question due to injury.
- QB: Peyton Manning (@ CIN)
- WR: Brandon Marshall (@ TEN)
- WR: Roddy White (vs. DAL)
- RB: Jamaal Charles (@ SD)
- RB: Ahmad Bradshaw (vs. PIT)
- TE: Antonio Gates (vs. KC)
- Flex: Reggie Wayne (vs. MIA)
