Report: Steve Martin Set to Star in Disney’s ‘Magic Camp’
After more than ten years, Steve Martin seems ready to reunite with Disney to star in a family comedy. The multi-talented actor is reportedly in final negotiations with the studio to headline Magic Camp, a film about a conservative banker who returns as a counselor to the camp he attended as a socially awkward boy. His goal is to improve the lives of the kids currently enrolled and to win the prestigious Golden Wand competition.
Martin is already involved in the project, having co-written the latest draft of the script with filmmaker Stu Zicherman (of the FX television series The Americans).
A director has not yet been announced.
Martin is no stranger to the world of magic. In fact, he spent the early days of his career performing at Disneyland’s Magic Shop.
An exact release date has not been set, but Magic Camp is expected to hit theaters next year.
