Styling and Profiling: Converse By John Varvatos
Looking for Converse sneakers you can dress up in off the field? Check out smart new looks from Converse by John Varvatos. The recently-released Jack Purcell and Cobblestone Sprint Grip models feature a combination of sporty inspiration and old-fashioned flair.
The Purcell look has been part of the Converse line for decades, but this year’s model, with a look that goes all the way back to the classics of the 1930s, really shines. These shoes feature washed canvas uppers, rubber soles and a slim rim of premium leather trimmed in scorched red. You can find alternatives that use charcoal colors if you don’t care for the white.
Not familiar with the Purcell brand? Jack Purcell, a badminton player in the 1930s, became one of the first athletes with his own sportswear design. Much more recently, designer John Varvatos teamed up with Converse to deliver updates on some of the brand’s most popular sneakers. Although Varvatos has come out with some crazy designs over the years, his Jack Purcell updates ooze class and restraint in a sporty style for a dressy, athletic look.
Both of these sneakers are super comfortable for travel, making them perfect for a recruiting trip where you’ll be trying to make an impression. As an added bonus, they also feature soles that perform well if you happen to shoot a few hoops.
Both Converse by John Varvatos sneakers are available for around $125 at your local shoe retailer or online at Ssense.
