‘Super Smash Bros.’ for Wii U on the Way
Nintendo announced Nov. 21 as the release date for the long-awaited Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. A handful of other Nintendo goodies will also drop on that date.
The company said an adapter will allow up to four Nintendo GameCube or WaveBird controllers to play the new Wii U game. The adapter will cost $20. For $30, fans can buy a standalone Nintendo GameCube controller emblazoned with the iconic Super Smash Bros. insignia. Nintendo will also offer a special bundle that includes the new Smash Bros. game, the Nintendo GameCube controller and the adapter for $100.
The company’s new amiibo figures will hit stores alongside the new Smash Bros. game. Per the press release: “The amiibo figures can interact wirelessly with compatible games in unique new ways, providing fresh gameplay experiences and a great value for consumers. Players simply need to tap them to the Wii U GamePad controller to activate them, and some figures offer compatibility across multiple games—no additional equipment is required.”
The press release also announced that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, an E3 favorite, will launch Dec. 5.
