When you combine awesome athletic talent and unbelievable effort, you can create moments of everlasting sports magic.
Case in point, this superhuman play from Autumn Finney:

So many individual elements of brilliance go into making this play amazing. Finney's awesome acceleration to get to the ball. The ridiculous elevation she displays while jumping headlong over a teammate. The serious guts required to sacrifice her body on such an unforgiving surface. The effort alone would've been enough to earn Finney props from us, but to actually hit a return in-bounds and have your team win the point? That was all but impossible.
Finney, a senior at Decatur (Texas)High School, is a phenomenal athlete. Not only is she a captain on the volleyball team, but she's also a track & field star. She won the 9-4A state title in the long jump last year (with a jump of 16-10) and finished third in the triple jump. She also helped Decatur's 4x100 team set a school record and win the league title.
No doubt the skills Finney honed as a track & field athlete helped make this absurd play possible.
