George Clooney Stars in ‘Tomorrowland’
George Clooney will star as former boy-genius inventor Frank Walker in the Disney sci-fi adventure film Tomorrowland. Walker teams up with Casey Newton, a teen brimming with scientific curiosity, to solve a mystery of the universe. Bound by a shared destiny, the two search their collective memories for a place that exists somewhere within the realms of space and time.
Starring as Casey is Britt Robertson of TV’s Under the Dome. Also appearing in the file are Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Hugh Laurie (House M.D.), Keegan-Michael Key (Horrible Bosses 2), country music singer/actor Tim McGraw and Kathryn Hahn, whose most recent work includes the big screen comedy This is Where I LeaveYou.
Writing and directing this picture is two-time Oscar winner Brad Bird, best known for helming The Incredibles and Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. Collaborating with Bird on the screenplay is accomplished scribe Damon Lindelof, who penned the high-profile movies World War Z and Star Trek Into Darkness. Writer Jeff Jensen is also credited with contributing to the story.
Originally known as 1952, the film was re-titled Tomorrowland after the futuristic venue at Disney theme parks. The studio has a history of creating films inspired by their theme park attractions, most notably Pirates of the Caribbean.
Tomorrowland will hit theaters nationwide May 22, 2015.
