Elite 11 Baton Rouge Regional Recap
Over 70 of the nation’s top high school quarterbacks participated in the Elite 11 Baton Rouge Regional on March 19, 2022. Top-tier skills, techniques, and performances were displayed from these quarterbacks as they competed against their peers in the second Elite 11 Regional of 2022.
A few quarterbacks have separated themselves from the pack, but all athletes demonstrated the athletic prowess than can only be forged in the fires of the Elite 11 program and philosophy. Elite 11’s philosophy of coaching up the next generation and showcasing impressive athletic skills were clearly visible throughout the event.
The athletes brought their best skills as the competition was fierce! All of the top performers, especially in the case of the 9-Throw Pro Day Station, were only separated by minor point differentials. This past weekend, the talent in Baton Rouge may be hard to eclipse even by the finals this Summer.
Along with a 1-Day Elite 11 Academy, a Golden Gun Accuracy Challenge, a 9-Throw Pro Day Station, and Combine Testing was conducted at the Regional. No Girls Flag event was hosted at this Regional, but the first invite to the Elite 11 Finals was given out to Rickie Collins of Woodlawn HS Louisiana! There are sure to be more Elite 11 Finals invites to be sent as the Regionals continue.

Rickie Collins, a Purdue commit, was an obvious standout as he received the first and only thus far invite to the Elite 11 Finals. In addition to the invite, he took 1st overall in the unofficial Top 10 of the combine testing and tied for 4th in the 9-Throw Pro Day Challenge. Keep in mind, though, that the winner scored 21 whereas the next two athletes tied for 2nd with 20 and Collins came in 4th with a score of 19. Thus, the competition was beyond steep at this station! And, if one needs any more indication of his top performance, he earned a 96.84 SPARQ score and showcased his explosiveness and well-roundedness with poise throughout the Regional.
Mack Howard competed with fierce perseverance and determination as he battled the relentless wind. The wind did dampen his overall performance, but he was able to bring some of his lightning magic in his accuracy and composure in the pocket that has garnered more than a few recruiting eyes and offers.
Cole Crippen also placed himself firmly on the radar as one to watch as his natural form and composure to the position oozes confidence from the pocket. His accuracy and poise start from his initial signal throughout his motions and finally deliver a precise pass to his target.
Underclassman Top Performers
Class of 2024 Adrian Mendoza raised some eyebrows as he tied for 2nd in the 9-Throw Pro Day station and won the Golden Gun Accuracy Challenge of all Underclassmen in attendance at the Regional.
Class of 2025 Roy Thomas Jenkins shined in his performance at the Baton Rouge regional. His bigger frame at 6’ 2” and 175 pounds goes hand in hand with his great footwork which allows his accuracy to hone in to a precision that elicits gasps from anyone observing.
Class of 2026 Owen Smith took home 1st in the Academy Golden Gun Accuracy Challenge as well as was one of the ones that tied for 4th in the 9-Throw Pro Day Station. He is definitely a qb on the rise as his skills have begun to be refined.
