A reboot of the popular Transporter action film franchise is in the works, titled The Transporter Legacy.
Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) will replace Jason Statham, who starred in the first three films as high-profile mercenary Frank Martin. Experienced at moving a wide range of goods, Martin has a reputation for delivering anything, if the price is right. In this new installment, he encounters Anna, head of a gang of lethal assailants, who believes Frank is the perfect choice to eliminate a group of vicious Russian human traffickers. As insurance that he will carry out the mission, Anna holds Frank's father for ransom.
French actress Loan Chabanol (Third Person) stars as Anna. Playing Frank's father is Ray Stevenson, best known for his roles in Divergent and the Thor franchise. The cast also features Anatole Taubman (The Fifth Estate), Radivoje Bukvic (A Good Day to Die Hard), and Lenn Kudrjawizki (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit).
Directing the film is Camille Delamarre, who served as editor on Transporter 3. Delamarre's directorial credits include the big screen crime drama Brick Mansions. The screenplay was written by writing partners Bill Collage and Adam Cooper, who have collaborated on a number of movies, including Exodus: Gods and Kings and Tower Heist.
Producing is Luc Beeson, who co-wrote the screenplays for all the previous Transporter films.
The Transporter Legacy will hit theaters nationwide on June 19, 2015.
