Holiday Wish List: TRX’s Outdoor Gym is a Go-Anywhere Workout That Fits In the Smallest of Backpacks
Fitting for a brand created by a Navy SEAL (Randy Hetrick), TRX also designed a line for military operators. Called the FORCE kit, it was similar to the home system, but with reinforced straps, larger foot cradles (to accommodate military boots) and additional anchoring gear.
The complete TRX Outdoor Gym kit.
In their new Outdoor Gym, TRX blended elements of the two systems. The result is ideal for intense, go-anywhere athletes—people who want to resistance train during or after an outdoor run or bike ride. The Outdoor gym is every bit as reinforced as the FORCE system, with straps built to take a serious beating. But the foot cradles are smaller, designed to fit running shoes or cross-trainers snugly. The kit includes nearly all of the anchoring accoutrements of the FORCE system, enabling you to turn any playground, goal post or tree branch into your personal gym.

Despite the extra anchoring gear, the TRX Outdoor Gym packs down to roughly the same size as the original resistance trainer. It easily fits into a backpack, even compact sacks designed for trail runners and cyclists. I managed to stuff it into a Camelback hydration backpack with no trouble.
The TRX Outdoor Gym is being sold through REI, so you have to visit their site to purchase it. Here’s a link in case you’re in a hurry.
