UFC Welterweight Tyron Woodley’s Explosive MMA Barbell Circuit
Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley doesn’t often hold a height advantage over opponents in the UFC welterweight division.
However, the 5’9” Woodley possesses explosiveness and athleticism that is unmatched among fighters in his weight class. Ask veteran fighter Jay Hieron, whom Woodley knocked out 36 seconds into the first round of his UFC debut back in February.
Woodley is currently in camp preparing for his UFC 161 match against submission expert Jake Shields, and by the looks of this video posted yesterday by Woodley, he’s ready to go more than one round in the fight.
This is the ultimate MMA Explosive Circuit: 11 total barbell exercises comprising 55 reps completed in 50 seconds. “Firing fast twitch muscles!” reads the description for the video, as posted by Woodley.
That’s for sure.
Here’s a rundown of the exercises completed in this barbell circuit:
- Speed Deadlift
- Jump Shrug
- Hang Clean
- Speed Jerk
- Upright Row
- Hang Snatch
- Goodmornings
- Overhead Tricep Extension (or a French Press for you cultured folks out there)
- Curl
- Bench Press
- Pullover
Last week we visited with Woodley for a day-in-the-life video shoot in his home town of St. Louis. Of his June 15 bout with Shields, Woodley said, “He’s the last of the Mohicans, and I’m going to give him his pink slip.”
