According to Donny Daniels, assistant men's basketball coach for the UCLA Bruins, a major weakness in the current hoops game is the emphasis players put on the more showy moves. "Too many kids want to dunk the ball, or put it on the ground and drive all the way to the hoop," he says.

When a teammate drives to the basket and passes out to you for an open shot, just take the J. Daniels says, "Don't do what I call 'drive a drive'—putting the ball back on the floor when you have an open look. Always prepare to shoot off a draw and kick."
