UFC Welterweight Contender Tyron Woodley Is a Top Target of Anti-Doping Agents

Tyron Woodley wants a title shot. The UFC wants his sample.
The welterweight contender revealed on Twitter that he’s been subjected to four random drug tests over the past nine months. If that seems a bit excessive, consider the fact that Woodley hasn’t fought in more than a year.
He tweeted (sic), “People quit wasting ur money. Its genetics lol.”
Woodley was set to fight former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks at UFC 192 in October, but the fight was pulled due to a weight-cutting issue that sent Hendricks to the hospital. This led to UFC president Dana White’s promise to Woodley that he would be next in line for a shot at the welterweight crown, facing the winner of the Robbie Lawler-Carlos Condit fight.
However, Condit lost a narrow, split-decision to Lawler, prompting speculation about a rematch. Meanwhile, Woodley says he will not fight unless the belt is on the line.
Could this recent fourth random test be a sign that a Lawler-Woodley title fight is on the horizon? Possibly. Ronda Rousey revealed that she was tested three separate times before her August 2015 fight with Bethe Correia.
Results from the first six months of the revamped testing program suggested that champions and title contenders were targeted the most. Rousey, current featherweight champion Connor McGregor and No. 1 contender Jose Aldo were each tested eight times, most among fighters.
So, T-Wood, hang in there, man. Don’t let the random tests be a drain or a distraction.
