Watch the Stunning New ‘Uncharted 4’ Trailer
Sony ended its E3 press conference on Monday with a teaser for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The short video features series protagonist Nathan Drake waking up injured next to a river and walking into a forest littered with cages hanging from trees. Over the footage, Drake and his accomplice, Sully, discuss Drake returning to “the game.” It’s a beautifully animated segment, which claims to be taken directly from a Playstation 4. Sony is clearly trying to show off the system’s capabilities.
The Uncharted games have always garnered strong reviews, but the second and third titles in the series took the franchise to the next level. Both were fan and critical favorites, winning several Game of the Year awards. The series became renowned for its graphics, acting and gameplay—traight out of an Indiana Jones movie.
However, earlier this year, series developer Naughty Dog faced some unexpected developments, including the departure of lead writer Amy Hennig and game director Justin Richmond. Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, directors of last year’s critically acclaimed The Last of Us (another Naughty Dog Game of the Year contender), have taken the lead on the project.
The Playsation 4 exclusive is already available for pre-order on Amazon, which lists a release date of Dec. 31, 2015.
