Vegas Comedy ‘Paradise’ Stars Odd Couple, Julianne Hough and Russell Brand
In the wacky comedy Paradise, Julianne Hough (Safe Haven) stars as Lamb Mannerheim, a beautiful young woman from a religious family who has a faith-shaking brush with death. The accident causes her to renounce God, shed her inhibitions and conservative values, and head to Las Vegas to live it up for the first time in her life.
Lamb clearly isn’t prepared for Sin City, but she is enabled by two new friends—a bartender named William, played by Russell Brand, and a jaded lounge singer, played by Octavia Spencer (The Help). The two collaborate to make Lamb’s dive into worldly pleasures much raunchier than she originally planned.
The trailer below shows a fun, quirky and irreverent film that has heart as well as substance. Lamb eventually discovers that life isn’t about experiencing cheap thrills—but not before an awkward and entertaining walk on the wild side.
Screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno) makes her directorial debut with this movie, which she also wrote and produced.
The cast also features Nick Offerman (We’re the Millers), Holly Hunter and NCIS Los Angeles‘ Kathleen Rose Perkins.
Paradise will be released in theaters Oct. 18, 2013.
