The Fighter [Paramount Pictures]
Release Date: Dec. 17
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams
In the blue-collar town of Lowell, Mass., street paver/boxer "Irish" Micky Ward [Wahlberg] spends every minute training for the next big fight, the one he hopes will skyrocket his career. But unreliable coaching from his druggie half-brother, Dickie Eklund [Bale], leads to one career disappointment after another.
When Micky's career seems over, he's given one last shot in a fight against a top-ranked opponent. With nothing left to lose and a "win-or-die" attitude, Micky proves he has what it takes to be a champion.
By dedicating his life to one goal, Micky shows true character and real talent. Several fights and KO's later, he finally earns a shot at the title.
Every athlete deserves a fighting chance. True champions prepare for it, and they're ready when it comes.
