View With Your Crew: Year One
Loyalty and respect are necessary for a team to be a successful unit. The proof dates all the way back to the beginning of time and a team of two fighting to survive. It may not be the truest of stories, but this week’s DVD pick will have you and your crew laughing and bonding while watching the true meaning of teamwork at its inception.
Year One [Columbia Pictures] Release Date: October 6
Starring: Jack Black, Michael Cera and Hank Azaria
Rated: PG-13
When two slacker hunter-gathers [Jack Black and Michael Cera] are kicked out of their tribe, they find themselves roaming the world. Although they lack the skills necessary to survive in their tribe, both have plans to make a huge impact on the world. They hit a few speed bumps on their quest for greatness, but they stick by each other, showing what it truly means to be loyal.
The film is the 21st century version of Mel Brooks’ The History of the World: Part I (if you’re unfamiliar with the movie, feel free to find it on Netflix and compare.) Year One is filled with humor and a simple plot. Black and Cera play typical Harold Ramis roles—a quick-talking funny man [Black] and a smart, quirky straight man [Cera].
STACK’s Favorite DVD Extra: Scope out deleted scenes, gag reels and a Line-O-Rama, and find out what had the actors laughing during scenes.
