Pro Bowl quarterback Vince Young can’t wait for the NFL season to get underway. The dude is ready to get back out on the field following a tumultuous end of the season last year. After months of reflection, rehab on his surgically-repaired thumb and relentless training sessions with James Cooper at Accelerated Bodies, Young is raring to go. We know this, because when we asked him about it, the guy was literally bouncing out of his seat.
“Football is what we do,” he says. “I’ve been waiting for a long time to get back out there, you can see me shaking right now about it [laughs].”
Young is itching to get out on the field because he knows he’s back in Pro Bowl shape. “These workouts will make you sick,” says the 2006 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. “We are out there on the field in that Texas heat, and then we’re in here in the weight room going again. If I survive this, I know I can survive anything in training camp and beyond.”
Whether Young hurts defenses more with his arm or his legs in 2011 is yet to be determined. Either way, we expect big things from the Titans QB this season. So does Young. “Anyone who has watched my career knows that when I need to bounce back from something, I’m coming back stronger than ever,” he says.
In the video above, Young discusses how he rose above his difficult upbringing and squashed doubters on his way to NFL stardom.
