WATCH: Brian Dawkins Jr. Shows Off Incredible Speed With 22-Mph Treadmill Sprint
Before Brian Dawkins was the 9-time Pro Bowler known as “Weapon X,” he was a three-time All-ACC selection at Clemson University.
Now, his son—Brian Dawkins Jr.—is ready to follow in his footsteps. A two-star recruit who earned All-State honors at Valor Christian High School (Highlands Ranch, Colorado), Dawkins Jr. will attend Clemson this fall. Judging by a recent Instagram video, the 5-foot-9, 160-pound defensive back has the athleticism to make an impact at the next level. Watch him hit a top speed of 22 mph on this manually powered treadmill:
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney shared his thoughts on Dawkins Jr. with IndependentMail.com shortly after National Signing Day. “We were not going to offer him a scholarship unless he came to camp. Man, he came to camp and put on a clinic. He has great coverage skills. Incredibly developed from a fundamental, technical standpoint. That’s a testament to Brian and how this kid has been raised,” Swinney said. “[He has] the tackling skills of a safety, the coverage skills of a corner and the mentality of his father.”
Sounds like a winning formula. Check out Dawkins Jr.’s highlights below:
