Charles Barkley was once a lean and athletic power forward galloping across the hardwood for the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets. But since he retired and joined TNT as an analyst for Inside the NBA, Barkley’s waistline has expanded just a tad. Fortunately for us, the Round Mound of Rebound never lost his sense of humor, and it’s part of what makes the pre- and post-game show hosted by Ernie Johnson such a joy to watch, even when they’re commenting on things that have nothing to do with basketball.
On Tuesday night’s broadcast, the show displayed a tweet from courtside commentator Reggie Miller, stating that he’d rather watch the injury-ravaged Memphis Grizzlies continue to get blown out by the San Antonio Spurs than witness Barkley perform hot yoga. Barkley wouldn’t stand for having his yoga abilities slandered on the set, so he got up out of his chair and attempted to showcase a few poses for viewers around the world. As expected, it did not go well.
Barkley attempted to crouch down into Warrior Two, but his knees wouldn’t allow him to do anything more than feign riding a surfboard. When he got down on the floor to attempt, we think, Downward Dog or Child’s Pose, or some bizarre hybrid of the two that doesn’t exist in the yoga world, he just lay there with his forehead touching the floor for a few seconds.
Thus concluded Barkley’s yoga display, something we hope to never have to watch again.
