When you’re in the twilight of your career like Kobe Bryant, you’re never safe from ridicule from your fellow players about how old you are, even if you’re a legend. During All-Star Weekend in Toronto, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony decided it was time to take some shots at the Black Mamba, comedic-roast style.
Paul gave Bryant a walking cane, telling the Lakers superstar, “there ain’t going to be too many fadeaways now.” Wade gave Bryant a subscription to Netflix, a robe and some underwear. Finally, Melo purchased Bryant a bottle of wine.
It was all in good fun, and Bryant took the mic at the end of the dinner to thank everyone for the recognition. Bryant has been oddly friendly and introspective during his final NBA season, and this is one more example of the famously intense star finally loosening up.
