WATCH: Foot Locker Ad Pokes Fun At D’Angelo Russell Phone Scandal
As Thursday’s 2016 NBA Draft draws near, NBA prospect Ben Simmons is slowly becoming a household name. From showing off his soccer skills in Instagram videos to signing a sneaker deal with Nike, the former LSU forward is showing himself to be a marketable athlete.
In a new Foot Locker commercial, Simmons receives advice from some of the league’s best young stars, including Karl Anthony-Towns, Devin Booker and D’Angelo Russell. The commercial will air during the 2016 NBA Draft on ESPN Thursday, June 23 at 7 p.m. EST.
During the commercial, Towns and Booker warn Simmons that the NBA is a “grown man’s league,” and that it’s not like college basketball. They basically tell him that he’ll have to work harder.

Russell offers advice based on his personal experience. Near the end of the regular season, the Lakers guard pranked teammate Nick Young, recording Young talking about cheating on his fiancée, the rapper Iggy Azalea, who found out about the video and formally announced that the engagement is off.
Russell asks Simmons if he has a phone. Of course he has a phone. He gives it to Russell, who promptly chucks it out the window and into the water. Russell says “trust me,” but Simmons holds up his arms in disbelief.
If the Lakers draft Simmons with the No. 2 overall pick, Simmons will have to keep his head on a swivel to watch out for more of Russell’s antics.
