The Cleveland Cavaliers brought a championship to Cleveland. They defeated the Golden State Warriors 93-89 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, becoming the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win it all.
Cleveland has waited 52 years for one of its professional sports teams to win a championship—the city’s last title came when the Browns won an NFL championship in 1964. The Indians last won the World Series in 1948. This is the first championship in Cavs franchise history.
In celebration of the Cavs bringing a title back to Cleveland, Nike released an emotional ad showing Cavs fans reacting to the team winning the championship. The footage of Cavs’ highlights are from other games, but the emotion from the fans in the commercial is genuine.
The Cavs’ championship is truly Cleveland’s shining moment, as the team overcame what seemed an insurmountable deficit.
