A perfect day for golf would be warm, with not too much sun and no wind. But what happens when the atmospheric conditions flip? Well, for the final round of the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open, they did. The weather was terrible. It was wet and the wind was brutal.
Golfers don’t normally prefer this kind of weather, but on one hole, it actually helped.

On the third hole of the South Course at Torrey Pines, Colt Knost nailed a 39-foot putt for a birdie. The weather was so bad that neither the ball nor the golfer could be still before the putt. But the wind was on the golfer’s side, and Knost was very happy about it. The ball drifted wide left, but the wind pushed it right into the hole for a birdie.
Knost and his team celebrated in disbelief. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. Watch the luckiest birdie below.
