WATCH: Robert Griffin III Works Out For the First Time as a Member of the Cleveland Browns
After not seeing a single minute of regular season playing time in 2015, Robert Griffin III is essentially starting over in Cleveland. No one is sure whether the 2012 NFL Rookie of the Year can still be a productive pro quarterback. RG3 has had multiple knee surgeries, and he’s suffered a major regression in his ability to read defenses and make accurate passes since that tantalizing rookie season. But that won’t stop RG3 from making sure his body is right and ready.
The Browns held their first voluntary off-season workout last week, and there was Griffin, going through a series of exercises, including Med Ball Slams, Med Ball Hip Tosses and various core exercises using a Physioball. He appears to getting a head start on his fitness ahead of training camp this summer.
RG3 had this to say about his work ethic:
“My best friend, if he comes to work out with me, he’s going to work out with me as if he’s an NFL quarterback, not as if he’s just a guy going to the gym,” Griffin told clevelandbrowns.com. “I’m going to push you. I’m going to expect you to work like I work.”
The whole league will be watching to see if RG3 can reclaim the ability he demonstrated in winning the Heisman Trophy at Baylor and in his first season with the Washington Redskins, when he dazzled defenses with zone reads and a big arm.
For now, it’s good to see him taking the essential first step.
