The Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in an overtime thriller 132-125, and Chef Curry came off the bench to cook up a masterpiece. After a horrendous start for the Dubs, head coach Steve Kerr decided it was time to sub in Curry, who scored 23 points in regulation, but shot 2-of-13 from downtown—not Curry-like numbers.
Then overtime happened.
With the Warriors up two, Curry nailed a deep 3 and finally started to feel like himself. He got hyped up and said, “I’m here. I’m back.”
Curry proceeded to take over the game, scoring 17 points in overtime. That’s 17 points in five minutes of play. He outscored the entire Portland team by three points.
Curry finished the night with 40 points and another NBA record.
