Rock climbing can be dangerous. You can fall from a great height, and even if you’re belayed by a rope system, you can hit your head or land awkwardly.
But the risks do not deter 14-year-old Ashima Shiraishi, who has already gained a reputation as the best rock climber in the world.

Shiraishi started climbing in Central Park in New York City when she was only 6, and she’s been climbing ever since. She is considered best in the world because of her long list of achievements, including five-time Youth National Champion and first female and youngest to climb a 5.15a, which is rated as the hardest climb to make.
