WATCH: This is What Happened When Cam Newton’s Teammates Challenged Him to a Rowing Competition
Here’s a quick piece of advice. Do not under any circumstances challenge Cam Newton to a physical competition. In addition to being a specimen of a human at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds and being in incredible shape, the three-time Pro Bowl QB is the most competitive dude you’ll ever meet.
Newton and a group of his teammates, mostly Carolina Panthers wide receivers, trained together this past summer at the Under Armour Performance Center in Baltimore. The team-bonding experience obviously paid off, as the Panthers have cruised to the best record in the NFL, and Newton will likely take home the NFL MVP Award at the end of the season.
However, as you’ll see in the video above, last summer wasn’t all about hugs and high fives. Some of the workouts were capped off with head-to-head fitness competitions, which transformed Newton from his usual smiling self into Warrior Mode. In the video, Newton crushes his teammates in a 2,200-meter rowing contest, then lets out a primal roar to celebrate. (He must have been too exhausted to perform one of his patented victory dances.)
Competitions like this are a great way to motivate athletes to push past their limits, so feel free to include them in your workouts.
Just remember, don’t challenge Cam. He beats everyone. All the time.
