Which Story Will be Antonio Brown’s Outburst Excuse
There are now a few stories going around about Antonio Brown’s mid-game outlandish striptease farewell performance show.
The Tom Brady Connection
Considering Tom Brady came out and said that we need to have compassion for Antonio Brown, there may be another side to the story. Tom says he’s been coaching Antonio through some difficult situations from the past. They used to be teammates before Tampa Bay. Tom helped Antonio get signed to Tampa Bay by vouching for him. However, the coaches from the Bucs were a little bit cautious about bringing Antonio on to the team, considering his past behavior and troubles. Tom hinted about helping him but made no clear explanation about why Antonio did what he did.
Concussions
Another story to be considered about Antonio deals with the severe concussions he experienced some years ago. About five years ago, Antonio suffered a serious concussion from an illegal hit. And about a year later, he got another one from a high helmet-to-helmet impact collision. The issue with repeated knocks to the head, or even a few serious ones, can lead to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The side effects of CTE are memory loss, confusion, impaired and poor judgment, being impulsive, aggressive, and depression. Considering he did what he did, it could be a possibility.
Mental Health
Antonio, in the past, has spoken about his mental health issues. He has made a few claims over the past years indicating and saying he needs help. This may be why Tom Brady said what he said and was helping him.
The Fake Ankle Injury
Antonio supposedly injured his ankle and was dealing with it for a few weeks. But he was not on an injured reserve report list. When the coach called for him to enter the game, Antonio said he was too injured. However, the coach was unaware of his injury and told him to go onto the field anyway. Antonio said he refused to play injured. The coach said he needed to play or was finished playing for the Bucs. Considering that the team has Sports Med Doctors, Athletic Trainers, and Physical Therapists, they would have communicated Antonio’s injury to the coaches. Apparently, Antonio and the coach’s relations were deteriorating for some time.
Not Acceptable Behavior
In any event, it’s still wrong to do with what Antonio did in this situation. Coaches want positive, not negative, attention. It is an embarrassment to the team, club, teammates, and coaches. Even though we don’t know the actual situation, it’s something that Antonio should have been more professional and reserved about. He’s a professional athlete who is seen as a role model. Unfortunately, considering his past history, he’s not a very good role model considering some of his situations.
This puts Tom Brady in a difficult spot and situation with the coaches and club because he vouched for Antonio. The coaches did not want him because of his poor attitude and personality. This type of behavior coaches frown upon even if you are a great player, similarly to the whole T.O. situation years ago.
Coaches don’t want these types of players on their team because it causes disruption, conflict, and dissension. They knew he was aggressive and unpredictable, and that’s something a team cannot have and risk, which is why they were skeptical about signing him.
It is definitely a disruption for the team and not the best time going into the playoffs.
