“White House Down” Out in June, Stars Channing Tatum
White House Down, the upcoming action and adventure flick starring Channing Tatum, will hit theaters on June 28. Tatum plays John Cale, a Capitol Policeman and single dad who finds himself in an exciting and terrifying crisis during his tour of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
According to reports, Cale takes his daughter on a tour of the White House—where he plans to tell her the disappointing news that he’s been turned down for employment by the Secret Service—when a heavily armed paramilitary group suddenly overtakes the White House complex. The safety of Cale’s daughter, the nation and President James Sawyer, played by Jamie Foxx, are all in jeopardy. It is up to Cale to protect them. The pressure is on and time is running out.
The movie shows off yet another side of the versatile Tatum, who has recently scored points for his roles in the hit comedy 21 Jump Street, the hit romance The Vow, and the hit drama Magic Mike.
Roland Emmerich—who directed Independence Day and Universal Soldier—directs White House Down. The film features an all-star cast, including Hollywood notables Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Woods as Secret Service agents and veteran actor Richard Jenkins (Killing Them Softly) as Speaker of the House. As reported by Coming Soon, James Vanderbilt, known for his screenplay for The Amazing Spiderman, wrote the screenplay.
