Why These NFL Greats Are Now Taking Their Vitamins in Liquid Form
“Who takes a multivitamin in pill form every day?”
All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski, top-rated NFL receiver Antonio Brown, six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Terrell Owens and NFL Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk all raise their hands.
And with that, Ray Doustdar confirms part 1 of his assumption. Athletes who take multivitamins often do so via pills.
Part 2? Who struggles to take pill-form vitamins?
“[Today] I did take a couple vitamins and I was sitting there for 5 minutes trying to get it down,” says Gronkowski. “I had to go get a protein shake to take over the water because it was tough getting [the vitamins] down.”
Doustdar, the founder and CEO of a new liquid-form vitamin company, then confirmed Part 2 of his assumption. He now had further validation that his liquid-form multivitamin called Buiced (“juiced” with a “B”) would solve a real problem shared by athletes across the board.
Like these NFL superstars, Doustdar wanted a multivitamin to ensure his body was properly fueled, healthy and performing its best. But he struggled to swallow the pills.
Even worse, after struggling to swallow the pills, he often felt waves of nausea as his body tried to break them down.
His liquid multivitamin solves both of these problems.
On this particular day, Doustdar is on Most Valuable Partner (MVP), a television program on which entrepreneurs present their ideas to a panel of pro athletes, to pitch Buiced to these NFL greats.

The athletes were extremely interested in what Doustdar had produced. T.O. and Faulk took home 30-day supplies to test in the hopes of potentially investing in the future.
Gronk and Brown had conflicts of interests based on existing endorsement deals, but nevertheless, Gronk requested a 30-day supply, since he may soon become a customer of the product.
After seeing the reaction of these NFL stars, we knew we needed to find out more about Buiced and its founder, Ray Doustdar. We recently spoke to him, and here’s what we learned.
STACK: What inspired you to create your own supplement?
Ray Doustdar: After struggling for over six years with the feeling of nausea each and every time I would swallow my packet of 4-6 vitamin pills, I thought to myself that there has to be a better way of doing this. Also, why the heck was I feeling so gross and sick to my stomach each and every time I would swallow these horse pills?
One random day, having just finished a great fresh vegetable juice—as I had become a big “juicer” as well—I decided to crush the pills on my counter and dissolve them in a glass of water. I drank it, and waited my normal 15-20 minutes. Not only did I not feel nauseous, I felt great!
I did that for a week and really felt amazing. I thought, “Maybe I just need to buy a liquid multivitamin” and searched the internet for one. When I couldn’t a clean, quality liquid multivitamin at a reasonable price, I knew I had a good idea and a business on my hands. That’s how Buiced was born.
Why did you choose a liquid vitamin form?
Once I started to dig into the research, I saw that the Physician’s Desk Reference, which is the bible of the medical industry, said that liquid vitamins absorb at 98% vs. only 10-20% for pills. 98% vs. only 10-20%! That confirmed to me that liquid was the way to go. I then discovered what was causing my “sick to my stomach” feeling. It was not the vitamin part of the pill, but all the fillers and binders and something called excipients that are needed to hold those pills together. That stuff provides zero nutrition, and your body has to work even harder to remove it, so why not NOT have it there to begin with?
What can a user expect to achieve, feel or improve as a result of using your products?
Over the course of even the first month, you can expect to feel better, sleep better, notice potential better hair, skin and nails and overall just have more energy throughout the day. This will happen because you are satiating your body with the proper amount of vitamins that you may be lacking from your diet alone.
I can also tell you that the more you build your immune system with Buiced, the less likely you are to get sick, because your body can fend off much more. But like anything that is worth taking, you must commit to taking it daily and make it part of your daily routine. Then, six months from now, you will realize you have not been sick at all while everyone else around you has!
Who are some of the teams, people and organizations currently using your supplements?
Right now we are in a very exciting growth stage for the company and we are in the process of working with some big-time athletes like T.O. and Marshall Faulk after pitching them on MVP.
On the collegiate level, I can’t mention the schools yet, but there are a handful of college football programs using our vitamin D product. A recent study conducted by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons discovered that more than half of college football players were Vitamin D deficient. Proper Vitamin D3 levels help foster stronger bones, and that prevents potential injury.
What has the feedback been like from your customers?

STACK: Why should athletes be suspicious of supplement safety?
Many athletes don’t know that the entire dietary supplement industry and all the products made by every supplement company, including mine, are not actually approved formally by the FDA. That’s right, they are not approved by the FDA, although they do fall under FDA regulations. That means the group responsible for deeming a supplement “safe” is the manufacturer of the supplement and not the FDA. The FDA is not authorized to review dietary supplement products for safety and effectiveness before they are marketed.
You can read all about that here at this link.
Whether you are a professional athlete, weekend warrior or a high school athlete, you should always look at the raw materials a company puts in its supplements. For example, one telltale sign of a company using crappy raw ingredients is to look at the source of their vitamin B-12. The most commonly available form of vitamin B-12 is the cheap synthetic form, which is actually bound to a cyanide molecule. It’s called cyanocobalamin, and you’ll find it in a lot of the cheap vitamins you can find at grocery stores and big box stores.
Low-end vitamin manufacturers use it because it can be bought in bulk and added to products so they can claim they “contain vitamin B-12!” What they don’t tell you is that the vitamin is bound to a toxic, poisonous cyanide molecule that must then be removed from your body by your liver.
The quality form of vitamin B-12 is called methylcobalamin. This is the form that exists in nature, and it is pre-methylated, meaning it’s ready for your biochemistry to put to immediate use. Methylcobalamin has several key advantages over cyanocobalamin:
- Increased absorption
- Better retention in tissues
- Contains no toxic cyanide
- Supports production of SAMe
This is why we use methylcobalamin in Buiced and not cyanocobalamin.
What else should athletes look for to ensure they’re taking safe supplements?
First, do your own research by turning the bottle around and looking at the “supplement facts” label. It should list the actual raw ingredient used for each vitamin. For example, on the back of the Buiced bottle you will see this:
- Vitamin B-12 (as methylcobalamin)
- Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopheryl acetate)
Second, make sure that the product is made in a CGMP-certified facility. CGMPs [Current Good Manufacturing Practices] establish a comprehensive system of process controls, including documentation of each stage of the manufacturing process, which can minimize the likelihood of (or detect) problems and variances in manufacturing as they occur and before the product is in its finished form. These process controls are essential to ensure that the supplement is manufactured, packaged, held and labeled in a consistent and reproducible manner to assure a quality finished product.
Third, use Google to see if anything crazy comes up about the supplement you want to take. The Internet is amazing, and if something is bad or a ripoff, chances are someone has posted about it somewhere. On the flip side, if absolutely nothing (good or bad) about the supplement comes up during a search, then maybe you should hold off on putting that into your body. The exception would be if it were from a reputable company that just launched a new supplement so there’s not much out about it yet.
Where can athletes purchase Buiced supplements?
