Acer Unveils The New Windows 8 Tablet
In its latest bid to top the iPad, Acer has unveiled the 11.6-inch Iconia W700. With a release date set for November 2012, the newest Windows 8 tablet may not offer any mind-boggling innovations, but it does promise plenty of smart features for athletes on the go.
Marketed as a desktop replacement, the W700 combines the best of a laptop and a tablet, so you don’t need to pack your laptop for homework and your tablet for entertainment. It’s all there at your fingertips once you hook it up to a cradle and keyboard. Unlike the W510, the dock can only be used to hold and position the device, so you’ll need to use Bluetooth for the keyboard.
The tablet also features an 11.6-inch HD display (1920 x 1080), with touch support; Dolby Home Theater; a rear-facing five-megapixel autofocus camera; a microphone; Windows key; a front-facing camera; and a high-res display.
Another cool feature: the new Windows 8 tablet has three USB 3.0 ports, allowing you to charge your phone, upload photos and work on homework from your USB drive all at the same time. The W700 offers more than eight hours of battery life, meaning you can video your practice or game and still kick back with movies or video games on the road.
