Zach Braff’s ‘Wish I Was Here’—An Interesting Follow-up to ‘Garden State’
The dramatic comedy Wish I Was Here, a follow-up to the 2004 surprise hit film Garden State, stars Zach Braff as a man who finds himself at a crossroads, forced to examine his career and his family to figure out his purpose in life.
Braff also directed the movie and co-wrote the screenplay with his older brother Adam. The story revolves around struggling 35-year-old actor Aidan Bloom, who despite being a husband and a father, is still searching for his identity. While home-schooling his two children, he teaches them about life his way and in the process discovers some important things about himself.
Starring as Bloom’s wife Sarah is Kate Hudson. The cast also features a number of other prominent actors, including Mandy Patinkin, Ashley Greene, Joey King, Josh Gad and Jim Parsons of TV’s The Big Bang Theory.
There’s been a lot of buzz about the fact that $3 million was raised in the Kickstarter campaign for this film, proof of the enthusiasm surrounding the project.
Wish I Was Here opens in New York and Los Angeles on July 18, expanding to wider release July 25 and Aug. 1.
