Will Wonder Woman Movie Get ‘Game of Thrones’ Director?
Michelle MacLaren, best known for directing episodes of the big hit TV shows Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, is reportedly the top contender to direct Warner Bros.’ upcoming Wonder Woman film. It could be an ideal opportunity for MacLaren, who also served as a producer/director on Breaking Bad, to transition into feature films.
Despite the fact that all of the comic book movies in recent years have been directed by men, it’s not surprising that Warner’s front-runner to helm this particular project is a woman. Wonder Woman is an iconic symbol of female strength and power, and many fans of the Amazon princess will find it fitting that her movie should be directed by a woman. MacLaren has an impressive background in the action genre and is often compared to Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow.
According to sources, however, Warner is not completely ruling out the possibility of a male director.
The upcoming film will be a spinoff of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is due out in March 2016. Gal Gadot, who will portray Wonder Woman in Dawn of Justice, is also committed to play the character in the spinoff.
This Wonder Woman film is scheduled to be hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
